Frequently Asked Questions - Camp Isla™


What are the requirements for Camp Isla™?

Camp Isla™ is open to girl gymnasts, ages 6-18 and levels 6-10 . Xcel Platinum-Sapphire levels are allowed. Gymnasts ages 6-12 (must be 7 by September 1 of the year of camp) would be required to commute to camp. Gymnasts ages 13 and up (must be 13 by September 1 of the year of camp) would be required to lodge in dorms on the camp's campus.

Are there exceptions to the Age and Level requirements for Camp Isla™?

Unfortunately, we are not making exceptions to age and/or level requirements. The High Performance Camp is geared towards gymnasts who are preparing or are eligible for collegiate recruitment. Gymnasts who are 13 and up may opt out of the dorm, but must pay the 13 and up fee.

Will all participants receive a leotard?

Yes, all participants will receive a leotard.

Are outings included in camp tuition?

Yes, all activities are included in the camp tuition.

Commuter Campers have been included in activities.  However, BGDG staff will not be responsible for the gymnasts and an adult must accompany them.  Adults must pay entry fee.

What Should My Gymnast Bring?

We would love to see all of our Brown Girls in BGDG leotards throughout events (not mandatory)!

Training Attire

  • Leotards are preferred (shorts may be worn)

  • Leotards should not have skirts, zippers or plastic attached.

  • No Big hair bows

  • No Beads

  • No socks or footed tights

  • No midriff tops (no bellies out during training)

  • No jewelry (small post earrings are fine)

  • Hair must be off neck and out of face.

  • Shorts must be long enough to cover bottom and private parts.

  • No loose tops

Outings Attire 

We expect all attendees to adhere to our dress code. During all outings Camp Isla™ will only allow respectable clothing. For example: No plunging neckline lines, revealing tops or bottoms.

  • Twin XL sheets and bed linen (for dorm room)

  • Clothings for outings (outings may be: school tour, night on the town/bowling, museum)

  • Snacks

Gift Exchange

Please bring a gift from your hometown or home gym to exchange with a gymnast. Gifts must not exceed $20.

Where do we go for onsite Camp Isla® check in?

Can parents register for the outings?

Due to the tour being after hours and on a holiday, the museum has limited the amount of tickets. At this time, we will not be able to have parents join us this year. Commuter gymnasts (ages 12 and under) will be allowed to ride the NC A&T Shuttle to the museum and back to campus. Parents are free to drop commuters off at the museum. Please let us know if that is your preference.
